Krav Maga self defense is the official hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces. It's also the preferred system for U.S. Military and law enforcement personnel. Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art. There are no katas and no rituals involved.

The words "Krav Maga" means literally "close combat." Originally, it was developed from the street fighting skills of Imi Litchenfeld during the anti-Semitic activities in Bratislava during the mid to late '30s. After he immigrated to Israel in the late 1940s, he began providing his knowledge to the IDF, Israel's Defense Forces. This is why Krav Maga martial arts is widely known as Israeli self defense.
