Deciding to improve your education is always a great idea when it comes to building towards a secure job and a good future. Those who have a BA or BS degree will generally get better jobs and benefits tan those without, and those who have a Masters degree will have better opportunities yet. But to go for your Master's degree, you have to have the right prerequisites, or required education, and nowhere are this more important than knowing what the MBA prerequisites are so you can get that degree.

Having an MBA degree doesn't guarantee you a job, but it comes close. The demand for those with an MBA degree is still very high, so pursuing a degree with an MBA curriculum goes a long ways towards getting you a better job with better benefits. Studying for an MBA takes about 2 years, but can be shortened if you do a lot of work and classes online. But to get that MBA degree, first you have to take care of the prerequisites so you'll be qualified to take the classes.
In order to get the MBA degree, you'll have to have a BA or BS degree and have taken accounting. Having taken the CLEP or DSST tests will be helpful as well. You'll have to demonstrate a proficiency in accounting, as much of what will be needed in your MBA classes will be accounting based.

Next, you'll need to have a background in finance or economics. This will involve many different things including risk analysis, costing, time and value of money as well as micro and macro economics. The understanding of how finance and economics are inter-related as well as the effects of financial decisions on the overall economic environment.

You'll also need a background in statistics. This involves Collecting and display of data in various ways in order to facilitate analysis of the data to derive averages and to come up with probabilities for possible scenarios. Also, using derivations and analysis to provide parameter estimation and hypothesis testing is also a good thing to have.

Most all of these prerequisites will be filled from previous classes from a business or finance degree, enabling you to go ahead and take the MBA classes. If you need to pick up some classes to round out another degree, you can take those online as well, making the move to an MBA program that much easier.

Take a look at your options and see which ones will give you the best course of action. Between on-site classes and online classes, you can complete your degree in less than 2 years and will be enjoying the benefits of a better job with better benefits. You'll be glad you did.
