This special northern region of Tuscany(which is in itself one of the most incredible places in all of Italy)has everything you need for an incredible trip for the whole family. From wine-tasting to agro-tourism to simply lounging next to the pool at your Chianti holiday accommodation, you'll find a plethora of activities to keep you busy during the day. At night, it's time to relax in the comfortable hotel or rental villa for the perfect end to an afternoon.
You certainly won't have any trouble finding a hotel in Chianti. There is a full range of choices, from small bed and breakfasts run by elderly couples to internationally branded hotels with recognizable names like Marriott, Hilton, and Sheraton. What kind of hotel you choose depends on what you're looking for in a hotel.
Will you feel more comfortable in a large, generic hotel, or would you rather have the personal attention that comes with staying in a small, unique boutique accommodation? If you opt for the latter, you will likely have a more authentic Italian experience with real Etruscans, which is something that will appeal to some. You have to decide for yourself what is important to you and what is not.
What will you do during the day while you're on vacation in Chianti? That's really up to you, because you will have much to choose from. Perhaps the most classic way to see the region is by touring all of the wonderful vineyards that produce the namesake wine. Vineyard owners open up their home to you, giving you an inside look into the way they've lived for thousands of years.
In recent years, other forms of tourism have also surfaced to provide alternatives for those who aren't into viniculture. Spend a couple of days toiling on an olive farm to learn firsthand where the famous oil comes from. Of course, "toiling" is a relative term; you can get your hands as dirty as you'd like, or spend the days lounging in the sun instead. Remember that you are on vacation, and it's up to you to do whatever your heart deserves.
And then there is everything that the city of Florence has to offer visitors. This world-class center of culture has enthralled tourists since the middle ages, and you won't be disappointed by your stay there. One great itinerary for travelers with a relatively small amount of time in Italy is a few days in the city, followed by another few days in a charming hotel near Florence. This is a great way to get a taste of both kind of living, city and country. The lifestyles are very different, but you're sure to enjoy the contrast between the two.
A trip to Italy is one that you will never forget. You have many places to choose from, including Rome, Venice, Naples, and Sicily, but keep in mind that for a well-rounded vacation, it's impossible to find a better place than Tuscany.
