More people appear to be shopping online than ever before. This is because you do not need to leave your home. With a click of a button you could find that you have saved yourself more money than if you had travelled to your local high street and purchased the same from there. Online shopping is a growing trend, evidenced by the increased popularity of online only sites like Amazon and Play.com, who in recent years have expanded their clothing businesses in light of its growing popularity. Now, people seem to be buying clothes online, but not just from the websites of well-known retailers, but also from online businesses, which provide clothes that are not even available in this country. These companies can afford to charge cheaply because of the low manufacturing costs from abroad.
Previously, shopping for clothes online was frowned upon. You could not try on the clothes beforehand, the part which many people shopping on the high street rather enjoy. Yet clothes sales have doubled online over a five year period and are fast catching up with books as the most popular online shopping category. Last year over a quarter of people bought clothes on the internet and so far this year a 10 per cent increase has taken place. This is down to the ease with which it can be undertaken. The home comfort and careful shopping options appeal to customers. That is indeed why food and grocery shopping online is on the rise, especially for people who may not be able to get out to shopping centres as much as other people.
There are benefits for businesses and customers alike when it comes to online shopping. The setting up of small businesses on sites like eBay allow for the business to save on costs by having no retail space and low manufacturing costs and this in turn benefits the customer in that the business can provide cheaper products. The internet too is a worldwide online community and so importing and buying clothes from abroad allows for greater choice. More so, certain social trends have allowed fashion to develop a greater following and so people could browse the latest fashion trend straight away. The power of word of mouth has therefore helped accelerate online clothes sales.
Online shopping can encourage good deals to be found. Many university students find discounts on online clothes, which results in customer loyalty, businesses often target specific ranges at them. There are greater encouragements by companies to offer deals, such as free delivery on all products should you spend a certain amount, whilst on the High street very little is offered in terms of innovative special offers. Voucher codes are a growing online method of payment that encourages greater shopping and the savings these could make. Price comparison websites allow customers to decide what the cheapest online retailer selling clothes are. This is of major convenience in terms of time saving, where on the High street you would look in shop after shop, online price comparison websites can find the best deals and even identify the best and most successful online retail stores selling clothes.
There are of course delivery charges, but most of the time online clothing retail companies manage to offset this further against the overall price on the high street. Furthermore, because the decline of the High Street, specialist companies can benefit by selling online to a wider customer base.
Therefore, you know you are getting the best deal buying your clothes online. You cannot compare prices as easily on the High street as you could on the internet. There is greater convenience and careful shopping when browsing online. Savings can be made by taking advantage of special offers and being aware of online only sites and independent small retail businesses. Buying clothes online is a trend increasing all the time and the convenience and easiness with which shopping can be conducted has made it a highly desirable online market.
